OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our training philosophy is to educate owners about their dog's behaviour and teach them how to communicate in a way their dogs can understand. We take a balanced training approach using both reward and consequence. The aim is to have calm and relaxed members of the family who look to their owners for guidance, protection and stability in the pack (that is ultimately the pack leader’s role). 

 

We like to teach people how to live with a dog and embrace their dog as a dog and communicate and build a relationship with that in mind.  Puppies are designed to learn so if you start implementing rules, boundaries and good communication early on they tend to respond really well and it helps prevent issues later on in life. 

 

PUPPY TRAINING

Our puppy training is very different to most and the focus is around teaching YOU how to raise your puppy, so you can prevent behavioural issues arising when they reach adulthood.

 

We are about getting you & your puppy/dog real-world ready.  Education for both owner & puppy is so important. Your puppy is a different species with very different communication to humans. In our puppy training, you will get the tools and knowledge to help YOU raise your puppy into a balanced canine who can fit into your lifestyle and be involved in the activities you like.

 

Of course, we will answer all the normal puppy questions, but you will also learn the importance of manners, expectations, appropriate socialisation with dogs in different environments and how to meet the needs of your new puppy.

TRAINING BEHAVIOURAL CONSULT

We offer a complete package as opposed to just fixing specific isolated issues. Generally, the issue is just a symptom and the root cause is something else. These sessions are about teaching you how to get improvements in your dog and helping you understand them better.  Time and dedication on the part of the owner when we are not there, is incredibly important. 

 

BOARD & TRAINS

Our board & trains are our most successful service.  Many dogs that come for this service have severe behavioural issues; aggression, anxiety, fear, severe lack of manners & boundaries. However, it is a program that is suitable for all levels and needs.

 

What makes Board & Trains so effective (providing owners are fully committed) is that the dog is fully immersed in the training 24/7.   It helps them learn quickly and clearly in a consistent and experienced environment. They are learning from a trainer who is very experienced with all the techniques, has a comprehensive knowledge of canine behaviour and the skills to make changes where needed while the dog is learning new behaviours and habits.  Once the dog understands what is expected of them and how to behave, then it is the owners who need to learn how to bring out the good behaviour.

 

The training is a full package and we work on various areas of the dog’s behaviour & psychology. We teach and proof all essential commands in various environments & distractions (including leash walking), work on their state of mind and teach them to be calm and relaxed in all situations (at home & in public). We also work on social behaviours with people and other dogs and of course basic manners - the ultimate goal so that they easily fit into family life. 

 

We provide educational material for owners to take home so they are ready to make the changes to their behaviour so their dogs can slot back into family life while still maintaining everything we taught them.   The length of Board & Train depends on the dog and what the owners would like to achieve.
